Wednesday, 30 December 2009 16:18

A guest at a Las Vegas hotel has filed a lawsuit after falling and injuring his hand during a planned power outage reports onpointnews.com.

The_StripAndrew Gold was not warned that the planned blackout was taking place and was asleep in his room when the power was cut at around 3am. Gold, who suffers from sleep apnea, a condition that causes suffers to stop breathing while asleep, was woken when his electronic equipment used to help him breath while asleep stopped working.

With the lights out Gold struggled to find a working lamp, due to the outage, and felt his way round the “dark and unfamiliar hotel room.” He tripped and in an effort to break his fall reached out and hit the palm of his right hand on the corner of a bedside table.

In his claim Gold stated that since that night he “continues to [suffer] extreme pain, disfigurement and loss of arm function,” and that the incident had caused him to develop complex regional pain syndrome.

Gold is seeking $50,000 in damages from the hotel operator – Las Vegas Sands Corp.
